Tools To Help Message About Housing & The Government Shutdown

This member update focuses on providing some tools as you respond to the government shutdown on your programs. The first is a FAQ from NAHRO answering common questions about the impact of the shutdown on agency funding. Read the full article here.

The second is a sample letter for use to inform landlords about the possible impact of the shutdown on future HAP funds distributed by Kandiyohi/Willman/McCloud HRA.  Use the link at the bottom of this page to see the sample letter.  We have also provided below a report on the Impact of Federal Budget Cuts on Housing Programs in Minnesota.

The third tool is a new report on public opinions on housing affordability issues and how to best communicate around them. The new paper, Building Support for Affordable Homeownership and Rental Choices: A Summary of Research Findings on Public Opinion and Messaging on Affordable Housing, offers housing advocates and practitioners the latest polling data and concepts on how to effectively communicate about housing affordability issues with the public and policymakers.
