The Albert Lea Housing and Redevelopment Authority (HRA) is soliciting proposals for professional architectural and engineering services for the exterior repair and maintenance project of the Shady Oaks Public Housing High-rise Apartment Building.
The Shady Oaks Public Housing High-rise is an 8 story apartment building with 126 one bedroom units. It was constructed in 1971-72, with major façade and window replacements in 1988. Shady Oaks is a Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) project and, therefore, subject to all HUD rules and regulations, and processes and procedures, not only for its operation, but for any interior and/or exterior improvements. Whether this project moves forward will be subject to funding availability from the HRA and/or HUD.
The HRA is seeking a qualified consultant to conduct project planning, prepare construction documents, and assist the HRA through bidding and award of contract. Construction observation services may also be contracted if the project moves forward. The proposals will be evaluated by the Albert Lea HRA staff on the basis of project understanding and cost. Experience with HUD procedures and processes, funding sources and procedures proposed for use in this project will be important.
